WEEKLY SOCCER CARDS INVESTMENT OPINION – FEBRUARY 18, 2021 – PHIL FODEN
Last post we wrote about Alphonso Davies and how it feels like he's been around forever. For this week's post, it's a similar feeling for a very different type of player: Phil Foden, Manchester City's oldest 20-year sensation.
The young Mancunian playmaker has England fans salivating and dreaming of what could be at the Euros this summer and the World Cup in 2022. The former FIFA U-17 World Cup Golden Ball winner burst onto the scene in 2017 and made his debut for Manchester City at just 17 years old. The boyhood City supporter has since made over 100 appearances for the Sky Blues. He was even recognized in the Guinness Book of World Records when he became the youngest player ever to receive a Premier League winner's medal. Pep Guardiola has rated him highly from early on, and the diminutive left-footer is truly the heir apparent to City legend David Silva. Although he doesn't possess an overwhelming physical presence that is sometimes needed in the Premier League, his gift and guile makes him a terror for any defender. His excellent close control and ability to drift past defenders is a joy to watch and his enormous talent was on full display in the recent 4-1 drubbing of Liverpool at Anfield.
We have some sweet Foden cards here on the BSC website, but if you're interested in his rookie cards we suggest the following:
- 2018-19 Donruss Rated Rookie #179
- 2018-19 Panini Sticker
- 2017-18 Topps Match Attax #U33
There aren't too many options available, but they do seem like good value given his proven talent for what is looking to be England's top side in 2021.
