This week on my soccer cards investment piece I really want to talk about Leon Bailey. I think we rarely get to talk about a player in this price range and talent potential without a big club transfer. So let's get started...
Why?: Leon Bailey is a Jamaican national. This could limit his value in the end a little bit. Bailey played for Genk in Belgium for 2 years, appearing 56 times and scoring 8 goals. With his performance at Genk he earned himself a transfer to Bayer Leverkussen, where he has been tearing it up since 2017. There he has made 99 appearances and 23 goals as a winger. In 2017 he already drew interest from Manchester United and Chelsea. I think he made the right decision to choose Leverkussen first to develop his skills before making the big step to a top team in the Premier League. Top clubs cannot ignore Bailey anymore and I think there is a big chance that he will make that big move next year. Manchester United seems like a likely landing spot for him.
At the moment everyone is focusing on Werner and Havertz as the rookie cards to chase out of the 2018-19 Bundesliga Chrome Hobby Box, leaving Bailey up for grabs at a discount. For only $9.99 you can own one of his true rookie cards that will only rise in value. I expect the value of Bailey’s rookie card to increase immensely once he makes the move to one of England’s top clubs.
